Let’s think less and feel more
Art is a portal to the unseen world. This is why I create abstract art. Since I was young, I've sketched odd forms and surreal worlds, often during lectures when teachers droned on. Doodling kept me awake, allowing my pen to wander without much thought. The results were incredible sketches depicting unnatural occurrences and fantastical ideas, a direct tap into my subconscious.
Last week, I attended an Xavier Rudd concert at an intimate venue. The crowd was warm and welcoming. When he first stepped on stage and began to play, I looked around at the audience. It made me smile to see the most enthusiastic and passionate spectators. In their dance, I saw freedom. Their guards were down, and they were wholly in the moment. Some had their eyes closed in gratitude, while others raised their arms above their heads and moved with the music
What do subconscious doodling and grateful spectators have in common? Both activities tap into an unthinking flow. Art provides a window into what we cannot see but can feel.
I think we could all benefit from thinking less and feeling more. Let’s drop the analyzing and let the subconscious, the intuition, make the next move.
