Open Studios, That’s a Wrap!
September has been a busy month! And do you feel that? There’s just a hint in the air that fall is coming and I can’t wait!
Sac Open Studios was my very first in-person event and I have to admit, I got stressed leading up to it because everything had to be perfect, of course. But, when it came down to the two days for the event everything went very well and I’m so glad I had the chance to meet art lovers and talk about all things painting!
I truly appreciate everyone who came out to support me. It means everything. I’m a busy mom with a full-time job, but painting is my passion and I’m determined to take it full-time one day. Anytime you like and share my posts or come out to events it does so much to help.
If you didn’t get a chance to stop by, I still have some small prints on stretched canvas left. And if you’re on my mailing list, once I have them added to my site, you’ll be the first to know! ;)
On the Easel
I continue to explore horizons in landscapes. I’m interested in the way they come together, usually as multiple cliffs stacked with light peeking through. I like playing with the dark and the light areas, back and forth, until the canvas begins to tell me what the final outcome should be. I keep coming back to the moody blues and the use of line work to define shapes.
A Little Dose of Inspo
During the second weekend of Open Studios I visited ClayArtStudio814. I met some truly amazing artists there and I absolutely love the close community they have created! After looking at all of the captivating sculptures, I headed upstairs where I found a 2D artist named Steven Hayhurst. I spent a great deal of time chatting with him about galleries, networking, print services, you name it. It was invaluable to pick the brain of an established artist and one who’s work can be seen in businesses, hospitals, private collections, etc. I’m so thankful he took the time to answer my questions and give me so much thoughtful advice.
